Transportation Services

The Transportation Department uses nine (9) lift-equipped vehicles to transport passengers within the boundaries of Jefferson Parish on a modified, fixed route basis, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.   Geographic areas served include:

     Metairie          Marrero/Harvey

     Estelle             Harahan/River Ridge

     Terrytown       Jean Lafitte/Lafitte/Barataria/Crown Point

     Grand Isle       Bridge City/Avondale/Waggaman/Nine Mile Point

     Jefferson         Gretna

The primary purpose of Transportation Services is to provide seniors in Jefferson Parish transportation from their homes to and from senior centers and other nutrition sites.  The Department's prime concern is the comfort and safety of its passengers.  Radio contact is maintained with the drivers when their vehicles are in use to add an extra margin of safety for them and their passengers.
